This is a fabulous opportunity for first-time home buyers! Lender-mediated, (short-sale, pre-foreclosure, and bank owned houses) MPLS listings abound! The Minnesota MLS inventory is huge!
Considering that the average Minneapolis home appreciation since 1950 has been 5% per year, it’s a smart move. Savvy investors know that this is this is the time to buy Minneapolis real estate listings. In fact, Twin Cities market conditions are creating a whole new generation of property investors.
Don’t expect today’s prices to be around forever; the banks have finally become aggressive about pricing their Minneapolis real estate listings to sell, and investors are scooping them up quickly. Keep in mind that the city is “landlocked,” meaning that when it becomes time for you to sell your home, you will not be competing with a large number of new construction properties.
Meanwhile, the population keeps growing and vacant land everywhere becomes more precious with every passing day. Home ownership is the American Dream. The net cost of owning Minneapolis MN real estate is probably far less than what you are now paying for rent, especially when you consider the equity gains and huge tax benefits. Add to this the $8000 first-time home buyer incentive, and sitting on your hand simply does not make sense. The most common mistake an investor can make is to wait until prices go up before buying. Heavy hitting real estate investors like Donald Trump are saying that this is the time to buy.

If you are considering upgrading your Twin Cities home to an upscale executive home in Eden Prairie, Lakeville, or Shakopee, this is an excellent time to buy. If you are looking in Chanhassen, Prior Lake, Minnetonka, Chaska, Waconia, or other metro areas, your timing is perfect. The Savage MN real estate market is also brimming with quality property listings. Consider this to be your chance to own a Minnesota lake home or even luxury lakefront property on Lake Minnetonka!
Minneapolis Homes
Minneapolis neighborhoods are coming BACK! So are the people who grew up in the city but moved to the suburbs after college. They missed the Gothic and Victorian architecture, tree-lined streets and sidewalks, and a park system with an endless maze of bike routes, creeks, lakes, and ballfields. There are plenty of vintage treasures to be found in the Minneapolis real estate market. Totally restored listings include mission-style foursquare homes or Arts and Crafts style houses. They offer gleaming oak floors, built-in buffets, oak pillars, big oak mopboards, and millwork details that show pride in craftsmanship!
If you are looking for something upscale, check out mansions with panoramic lake views along Lake of the Isles Parkway! Luxury homes on Mount Curve enjoy sweeping views of downtown and boast 10,000+ finished square feet of amenities like billiards rooms, libraries, media rooms and more. The Minneapolis real estate market certainly contains its share of mansions and executive homes. Twin Cities Luxury homes are surprisingly affordable, especially when compared to prices in most other major cities
Can You Really “Search the Minnesota MLS?”
Please note that Northstar Regional MN MLS does not allow its member agents to have web buttons or links that say “Search the “Minneapolis MLS” or “Search the Minnesota MLS” on their websites. Interestingly, large out-of-state internet entities can still say things like “Minneapolis MLS Finder,” or “Search the Eden Prairie MLS Here!” Local brokers are forbidden to do so, although they do it all the time. We must say things like “Free Minneapolis real estate search.” What’s up with that? Most people go to Google and begin their property search with a query like “Twin Cities MLS.”
The “MLS” search feature you find on all Minneapolis real estate websites actually is called the “IDX.” All of us use the same feed of property listings provided by the Northstar Regional MLS. There are some technical distinctions between IDX and the Minneapolis MLS as well as some minor differences in the data sets. For the consumer, this nit-picking parsing of terms does not mean very much. It is sort of like “picking fly poop out of the pepper.”However, if you want to see the Minneapolis MLS exactly the way that REALTORS see it, give me a call and I can send you as many Multiple Listing Service properties as you wish. The important point is that you can find almost all Twin Cities homes for sale that are currently listed on the Minneapolis MLS. If you are looking for Minneapolis real estate, you will find it here. You can also view Minnesota lake homes here. I am not aware of any local realty companies that exclude their listings from the IDX. Also, I can email to you all Minnesota MLS listings in the exact format that REALTORS use. Either way, you can get all the information you need about Minneapolis MN real estate.

Minnesota Lake Homes and Lake Shore Properties

But even in a pulsating metro area like the greater Minneapolis real estate market it is possible to find tranquil lakeshore and Minnesota lake homes for sale. At any given time, the Minneapolis MLS has about one hundred or so lake homes that are graced with views of Harriet, Lake Calhoun, Lake Nokomis, Lake of the Isles Minnehaha Creek, and the Mississippi River. You can find MLS Minnesota lake home listings in the surrounding counties, including Hennepin, Carver, Scott Washington, Ramsey, Anoka and Dakota counties, as well as “out-state” Minnesota in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
