Housing opportunities abound in Blaine, and there is something for every type of family, stage of life, and income level. Blaine was rated number one for housing starts in the greater metropolitan area in 2002. This is expected to continue for another 10 years or so. One down-side- Blaine Minnesota has the topography of a pool table. But Blaine is a sprawling suburb with many affordable opportunites for residential real estate purchase, including everything from old homes to new construction. Vacant land is more affordable here too. According to the Northstar Regional MLS Blaine stats, 289 single family home sales closed here, most of them occcuring in the 200-300k price range, which proves that homes in the northern suburbs are more affordable. Average list was $298,028 and the average final selling price was a surprising 99.3% of asking price, at $296,023! Average year-built was 1988, and the average size was 2079 square feet. Most new construction occured in the 300k-400k range, and at The Lakes of Raddison by Sharper Homes.
There is not much lakeshore real estate in Blaine, but if you stay alert you might be able to pounce on a new MLS lake home listing that might pop up on Aspen, Sunset, Club West Lake or Laddie Lake. Minnesota lakefront will be more affordable here than other areas of metro Minnesota.
