Brooklyn Park Minnesota is a second ring suburb of Minneapolis, and is the 6th largest city in the state. This was once an agricultural community, but now offers an array of residential and business development opportunities. It enjoys a comprehensive park and recreational trail system, and even a nationally recognized public golf course . As of 2005, the population was 70,997, and is expected to rise to 78,000 within 20 years or less. The area occupied Brooklyn Park is about 17,020 acres or about 27 square miles. The city is bordered on the south by Brooklyn Center, Crystal, and New Hope, Champlin and Coon Rapids on the north side, the Mississippi on the east side, and Osseo and Maple Grove on the west side. Brooklyn Park is mostly developed, and the next area of growth is expected to occur on the north side of Hwy 610. The city enjoys quick access to the Twin cities, and is only about 10 mi NW of downtown Minneapolis.
