Champlin is a northern third tier suburb with a population of about 23000, and is located on the south side of the Mississippi, about 17 miles north of Minneapolis, at a spot where Father Hennepin first crossed the river in 1680. Father Hennepin Festival is still celebrated every June to commemorate the event.

Today, the Champlin MN real estate market is busy and so are retail businesses, including major shopping areas like Champlin Crossings, Champlin Plaza, Champlin Marketplace, and Southpond Center. The new Elm Creek business center will hold more retail as well as a 14plex movie theater. But the natural beauty of the area remains preserved by 300 acres of city parks, the Em Creek Regional Park, miles of walking trails, and, of course, the Mississippi River.

Homes and Town Homes in Champlin

Champlin is a smaller market, so if you want to jump on a good homebuying opportunity, I can send you e-mail alerts for MLS listings of Champlin homes for sale as soon as they hit the market. There are usually only about 100 or so single family home listings available here, and this includes all styles and price ranges. Prices rarely exceed 500k, and you can see some excellent new construction on Quail and Hennepin Landing, all loaded up with granite and maple. These beauties are found in the Nokomis Pass and StoneHearth Place. If you keep your eyes open and your checkbook handy, you may be able to catch a nice Champlin home that is graced with panoramic views of the Mississippi River. Right now there are about half as many townhomes as single family homes currently available, which is somewhat typical for this area. Most of them are side by sides along with a few detatched units, built in the 90’s and 00’s. Some of the newer detatched units are rambler style with basements, and offer about 2100 square feet of livable space.
