Elko and New Market MN are both rural communities situated in Scott County Minnesota, about 20 miles south of Minneapolis and only about a mile apart from each other, on Co Rd 2 and west of Interstate 35.

In March 2006, the residents of Elko and New Market Minnesota voted by 437-85 to approve of a merger of the two cities. This will transpire in January 2007. In 2006 the estimated population estimated at 3168, jumping from a 2000 census count of 804. This is not your father’s New Market or Elko! The residents are now involved in designing a plan to consolidate services and formulate a budget.

But everyone knows the area for the famous Elko Speedway! This is a 3/8 mile oval paved track that is easy for everyone in the cities to get to. Just drive south 10minutes from Burnsville and get ready for fun. People have been enjoying Elko Speedway for over 40 years, and the facility has been NASCAR affiliated for 20 years. Spectator counts have tripled and the competitor volume has increased five-fold. Be sure to come down to the speedway and watch cars drive around in circles. Elko New Market Minnesota is one of the most affordable real estate markets in Scott County. According to Northstar MLS real estate sales statistics, the average single family Elko New Market home sale for the last half of 2006 was $342,231, and the average year built was 1996.
