The city website says that it is a “growing and prosperous” town. It anoints itself with a few other accolades as well. It says it has excellent municipal services. It also says that it is an ideal location for recreation. This is probably true. It is situated just west of the St Croix River, with Pokegama Lake and Upper and Lower Snake rivers nearby, so there are plenty of places to wet a fishing line. If you own a home in Pine City, you will always have opportunities to throw horseshoes and enjoy a picnic. There is even a skate park and basketball courts. The site also says that the citizens are “hard working and have great community spirit.” Hmm. Doesn’t this aptly describe the denizens of any Minnesota community? The work ethic and the big heart. Helping neighbors and following it up with apple pie and coffee. I grew up with that in my home in Minneapolis!
