If you live in Minneapolis, and you are looking for a weekend MN lake home that won’t burn up hundreds of dollars worth of gasoline to get to, consider this beautiful 509 acre lake in Annandale, Wright County. Just keep driving west on Highway 55 from Maple Lake Minnesota, and you can’t miss it. What a great place to purchase lake property! The lake is 74 feet deep at its deepest, which is 50 feet deeper that the fish can find dissolved oxygen. It has a water clarity of 11.5 feet. Nice! However, there is not much structure on the bottom of this lake. There is County owned access on the north end, and city-owned access at the south end.
Pleasant Lake is right in the heart of Annandale, and is well-surrounded by an assortment of cabins and lake homes. It’s always busy here in the summer. This is a very popular spot, especially for fishermen who are looking for walleye. The DNR has done some very serious walleye management here, and the fishing just gets better, in spite of all of the pressure. However, catching walleye here is not as easy as you might think; there is plenty of forage for them in terms of multitudes of perch and sunnies, so it might be a bit of a trick to get them to notice whatever it is that you have on your hook. Leeches are the preferred bait here for catching those ‘eyes.
Northerns and bass also make their home in Pleasant Lake. Want Northerns? Bring shiners. Want bass? I don’t know, so you are on your own for that. Try the old black plastic worms along the weedlines, I suppose.
