This lake just gets better. “This isn’t your father’s Cedar Lake!”
Cedar Lake may be shallow, but it boasts 780 acres, which makes it the largest lake in southern Scott county. Two concrete public accesses are here; there is a public access on the northwest end and one on the eastern end. As of this post, there are no fishing piers here, but some people have claimed good results by fishing from shore.
Winterkill used to plague this lake, but water levels have been stabilized and an aeration sytem implemented to make this lake a rather productive fishery. Most anglers that come here are after the bluegills, with muskie anglers coming in second, but it is worth the effort for anyone who is fishing for walleye. Sunnies and black crappies are found in the little bays of the lake.

Efforts to populate the lake with walleye fry stocking flopped, but stocking with fingerlings in 2001 succeeded. Surveys concluded that the numbers of walleye in the lake are on the higher end of the normal range for a lake of this type. Less than three percent of the fish caught by gill nets were from fish that were not stocked during the years of fingerling. The logical conclusion is that maintaining strong walleye populations depend upon repeated stocking of fingerlings. Walleye fishing is probably best off of the rocky humps on the northern center of the lake.
The most notable feature of this lake is the abundance of large muskies. In fact, nearly half of the muskie population is of legal size. Some have been taken on the east side outside of the weedlines.

Average sale price for homes that closed in the last twelve months is $577,000, with an average square footage of 2587 finished off. *
